This week's news in Hunterdon County towns
READINGTON TOWNSHIP -- The 12th annual Summer Solstice Celebration will take place this weekend at Solberg Airport on Saturday from 4 p.m. to dusk. The rain date is Sunday. Solberg Airport's owners have planned a new celebration of the solstice with an aeronautical and more environmentally acceptable activity: a hot-air balloon launch just before sunset. The celebration will include aircraft and helicopter fly-ins, face painting and live entertainment, a cookout hosted by the Whitehouse Rescue Squad, homemade ice cream and introductory airplane flights. The hot-air balloon launch scheduled for 6:30 p.m. will include about a dozen local balloonists. Admission is free, and attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket, sit back, relax and enjoy the view of the sun setting. Live Entertainment will be provided by HelenaMaria, an acoustic pop/rock duo of identical twin sisters from Flemington. For details, call 534-4000 or visit solbergairport.com.
