PARTNERS Announces Solberg Airport Design Contest
READINGTON, NJ In an effort to address residents concerns over the planned improvements at Solberg Airport, PARTNERS has created an opportunity to collect input from students, schools, groups and individuals on a broad range of aspects of the improvements that concern citizens.
The contest "Solving the Puzzle: What Does a Modern General Aviation Airport Look Like in a Rural Context That Preserves Quality of Life?" encourages people to identify issues such as architecture, town planning, recreational activities, historical or cultural activities, community centers, meeting areas, or educational opportunities and how the planned improvements can incorporate them into the plan.
Entries will be eligible for prizes in categories by age group and number of participants. There is a $10 entry fee for each submission, and winning selections will be shared with local, county and state planning officials. Entries, with application and narrative description, can be in any form be it poster, a photograph collage, technical drawing, or report. Contact PARTNERS through Solberg Airport or visit the PARTNERS website www.PARTNERS-Solberg.org.
"We encourage classroom study groups and area community groups to put their thinking caps on and put their feet in our shoes. How would they go about providing a safe modern airport that also addresses community concerns? There are tremendous educational opportunities to apply science, art, history, social studies, business economics and fun family recreation in these improvement plans," suggests Sim Hitzel, a private pilot. "The idea is to put in place a structure to capture creative ideas into constructive usable plans that can be used here today."
